Horse Buying Scams
Occasionally, we receive information from our readers notifying us of scams that they have received by email. If you believe you have received a fraudulent email and would like others to be made aware of it, you can email us the details and we will list any new information on this page.
LATEST HORSE SCAM TO MAKE ITS SELF KNOWN TO THE EQUINE TRADER Remember if it sounds too good to be true.... it usually is!! Freisian are a beautiful breed and as we all know they can be very expensive. They are gracious, majestic animals that most of us would love to own, so when the option of buying a Freisian came up for as little as £500 I knew it was a little too good to be true. When I did some investigation I found that it was of course a scam. Don't get me wrong, not all ads selling a Frieisian are a scam, but as the saying goes.... "If it's too good to be true, it usually is." What to do if you receive an email or if you see an ad that you are unsure of? 1. Send the advert link or email to us at The Equine Trader. We will contact the seller on your behalf. 2. If you wish to contact them directly, approach with caution, ask questions, ask to see the horse. 3. Do not part with any money before you have seen the horse and all it's paperwork, ownership papers, passport etc. 4. Go back and see the horse a number of times and continue to ask questions. They should always be able to give you the same answer as before.
